Martineau has developed a number of standard documents/solutions for education institutions:

	Martineau: Charity Tool Kit The Charities Act 2006 changed how universities are regulated and removed the presumption that education is for the public benefit. To preserve the applicable tax reliefs or exemptions, universities must now show that their activities are charitable and for the public benefit. There are particular issues around charitable research contracts and private benefit, which can be resolved where the university has properly assessed the contract. Martineau has created a toolkit for universities to complete prior to entering into any research contracts. This toolkit will simply and effectively demonstrate to the regulator that the contract has been properly considered. The toolkit consists of the following: a statement for an appropriate member of senior management to complete before appointing an assessor; and an assessment form (with guidance notes on the back) to be completed by the assessor. 	School Links Agreement - Martineau have developed a draft agreement for use in documenting school links and work-related provision by colleges for school pupils. The draft can be used as a framework for the many variants of college - school partnerships. It is a short, bullet-point document, written in plain English. The draft is available to colleges for £293.75 (VAT inclusive). Further advice can also be provided on request.
	University Starter Pack - our University Starter Pack on CD-Rom is designed to provide almost all of the documentation one of your spin-outs might need to take it through to its first major investment round. The main focus of the pack is to preserve and protect the company’s IPR, but the documents are drafted to be fair between the founders and the University itself, to make them easily acceptable by both sides with a minimum of negotiation. Our packs are available for a fixed fee, or on a licensed “per use” basis.
	Industrial Liaison Pack - the Technology Transfer Team followed up the success of the Starter Pack with a University Industrial Liaison Pack, also on CD-Rom and designed to provide almost all the documentation your technology transfer office might need in its dealing with industrial partners and other institutions, recognising the need to tread a careful path between the often conflicting demands. Our packs are available for a fixed fee, or on a licensed “per use” basis.
